In Your Meal, Monstress are picking from Erykah Badu’s Apple Tree, sipping coffee with Tank and the Bangas at Café Du Monde, and washing themselves off in Doechii’s river. A soulful Rhodes sets a reflective tone, while Sarah’s lyricism invites the listener to turn inward and examine themselves.

After a particularly tumultuous period in her life, Sarah began therapy to help her navigate the emotional weight of her choices and circumstances. She came to a realization: everything starts and ends with the self. There could be no excuses, no one else to blame. Accepting this truth brought clarity and empowerment, paving the way for healing—and ultimately inspiring the creation of Your Meal.

Monstress’ approach to writing and composing places storytelling at the forefront, and this philosophy shines in Your Meal. Together with producer Julian Sanchez, they amplify every inflection, breath, and sigh, weaving these nuances into the sonic and emotional fabric of the song. The result is a piece that doesn’t just tell a story—it pulls you into the depths of it.
HIT IT WHILE IT'S HIP (OFFICIAL VISUALISER)
Accompanying Monstress’ new single "Your Meal", this moody and evocative visualiser is directed by Clarence Lin Thein, the visionary behind the tribute to 80s horror Heather’s Diary. Captured in the tender, ethereal light of early morning, the visualiser delves into themes of renewal, personal growth, and transformation.

Influenced by the artistry of Doechii, the piece seamlessly balances striking simplicity with emotional depth. Featuring meticulously choreographed longer one-takes, the fluidity of the movement underscores the song's contemplative rhythm, creating a hypnotic and immersive experience.
Kate Wilson’s exceptional production design enhances the visual narrative, bringing a textured, atmospheric quality that perfectly complements the introspective tone of the track.
"Your Meal" is not just a song but an experience, and this visualiser offers a poetic lens through which to embrace its message of self-discovery and growth.
